About the PMx Competition
In 2015, we hosted the first ever PMx: TED-like talks for the podcast community, and it came back again even bigger in 2016. These short form talks are bare bones, to the point, and very informative! No slideshows, but props and expertise are welcomed and encouraged.
Taking place this year on Tuesday, August 22, PMx will be on the big stage of Podcast Movement the day before the event officially kicks off, in front of hundreds of fellow podcasters and attendees.
And new for this year, there has been a competition element placed on the PMx talks! While the talk formats has not changed, a panel of judges will score each talk, and the highest scored talk will not only take home the PMx Competition award, but also be recognized on stage at the Academy of Podcasters Awards, and will be automatically given a speaking spot at Podcast Movement 2018!
A suite of short (15 minute), carefully prepared talks, demonstrations and performances that are idea-focused, and cover a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration and wonder – and provoke conversations that matter. No slide decks or videos, all focused on you the speaker.
PMx will present multiple issues and a diversity of voices from many podcasting perspectives and niches.
Community-driven and bias-free content
PMx is organized by volunteers from the podcasting community, lacks any commercial agenda. Its goal is to spark conversation, connection and community.
What PMx is not:
- PMx isn’t a marketing conference. It isn’t limited to one topic or field. It isn’t used to sell something.
- PMx is not organized by or for special-interest political, religious or commercial groups.PMx is not organized by or for special-interest political, religious or commercial groups.
- PMx is not a platform for professional speakers, such as motivational speakers and professional life coaches. Its purpose is to give a platform to those who don’t often have one, but have great contributions to give to the podcasting space.
- PMx is not focused solely on entrepreneurship, business or technology. Diversity of topics is key!
